about

A breath of fresh air, borne in the crisp dewbedecked morning, mingled with subtle zephyrs of scent:
Orchid Sessions represents the work of Ajnkana during June of Twenty-Two.
Five long excursions into the realms of ambient waves and dub techno hypnotism.
Session I [Cymbidium] opens with a darkly emotive, brooding texture underpinned with well shaped bass to simmer under the surface. Session II [Encyclia] then continues with a more overt 'chill-out' destination; hints of melodic arpeggiator, interspersed white noise and shuffling hats drive the track while remaining pleasantly restrained.
Session III [Phalaenopsis] being the second longest piece represents a sensitivity indicative of the album as a whole, with gently surreptitious filtered stabs. It precedes the more upbeat [Vanda] in a long-winding meander through contemplative moods, hung in a balance of sublime tolerance.
Session IV takes the motif of filtered stabs to the next level. Opening without intro [Vanda] gets right down to business. It's almost
electric roboticism simmers along with careful use of intermittent delay and reverb.
The album continues with Session V [Ludisia] which
opens with laid back synth pads before fixing itself in a lulling bass groove layered above with highly modulated rhythmic synth waves covered in mingled texture. Its simplicity its charm. Next, Session VI [Maxillaria] picks up into a more dancefloor orientated piece while remaining quite restrained at the same time. Featuring a lush main synth and somewhat heavier percussion. Session VII [Phaius] is ambient dub techno at it's more peaceful. Session VIII [Odontoglossum] features a more developed style of bassline with rhythmic noise in the high end with intermittent sounds scattered throughout. Session IX [Zygotpetalum] ends the album on a high note with subtle groove and atmospheric pads leaving Orchid Sessions an ideal work for mellow moods,
soporiferous relaxation or the deeper side of the dancefloor.
